Make a Student Matinee Reservation

Alabama Shakespeare Festival is committed to doing all we can to limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus in our community. The pandemic forced ASF to cancel or postpone performances and events this season. Please visit for the latest information.

Cancellations will affect these SchoolFest performances and productions effective immediately:

  • Alabama Story, March 17-19
  • Ruby, March 17-20
  • The Comedy of Errors, April 14-24
  • I and You, April 21-May 1

Please take note of our grade level recommendations. Alabama Shakespeare Festival asks that the group leader take responsibility for determining whether a performance is appropriate or not for their particular group. Alabama Shakespeare Festival does not censor or edit the content of student matinee performances. Information on language, setting, and length will be available closer to the opening of the show. All productions start promptly at 10:00 a.m. unless noted otherwise. Babes in arms are not admitted to the theatre.

Type 1 Ticket
$20 Out-of-State — Standard discounted student ticket
$19 In-State — Standard discounted student ticket

Type 2 Ticket
$15 — Schools that require a steeper discount due to student financial need qualify. Please inquire about Type 2 tickets only if more than 50% of students are on a free/reduced lunch program. We request you attach a letter demonstrating financial need with your registration.

Type 3 Ticket: ASF Schoolfest Grant
Type 3 Tickets are no longer available.

Chaperone Tickets
For every 15 student tickets purchased, the school receives one free adult chaperone ticket. Additional adult chaperone tickets are $24.

Please provide the Chaperone Expectations sheet to all parents, teachers, and school staff attending the performance. In exchange for a free chaperone ticket per 15 students, chaperones are responsible for the supervision of the students under their care before, during and after the performance.

Chaperones and teachers are responsible for getting students safely inside the building. Once inside, the lead teacher on the field trip should check in with our staff and confirm the following information:

• The number of students and chaperones in attendance today
• If the group is staying for the postshow discussion
• Any dismissal or accessibility needs

If your school group is staying for the postshow discussion, please stay seated after the curtain call. A representative from ASF will be out shortly to begin the conversation. If your school group needs to leave immediately after the performance, please do so quietly and encourage chaperones to lead students safely to their transportation.

All requests are processed in the order in which they are received. Alabama Shakespeare Festival is not responsible for illegible faxes, reservation forms that are detained, or correspondences lost in the mail.

Any additions to your reservation must be made through you and/or your school. ASF cannot accept any individual requests for SchoolFest reservations. This allows the school/educators to control who is with their group. If a parent calls wishing to add to your group, we cannot give out any information on availability, and they will be told that all requests must be made through the school/educator. Babes in arms are not admitted to the theatre.

Payment Instructions:

We accept credit/debit cards or checks.

Full payment is due at least four weeks before your performance date.

We seat in the order that payment is received. Upon receipt of your reservation, Alabama Shakespeare Festival will send an invoice to the contact person. Registrations not paid may be canceled.

*If for any reason you need an extension, please let us know. We want your students to be able to attend our productions.*

Cancellation Policy:

In the event you must cancel your reservation or reduce the size of your group, please do so no less than six weeks before the performance date.

All sales final. No refunds.

How To Reserve: 

  1. If reserving multiple performances, use a separate form for each reservation.
  2. Estimate the number of seats you will need.
  3. Choose performance date(s).

All performances begin at 10:00 a.m. CT until otherwise noted. 

Reservations are not complete until you receive a confirmation.
