With audiences and artists alike separated from live performing arts by the global COVID-19 pandemic, Play On! allows Alabama Shakespeare Festival to advance its mission to create transformative theatrical programming in the wake of canceled and postponed productions.
Speak the Speech
Inspired by William Shakespeare’s directive to “speak the speech” and our gorgeous garden setting, we invite you to use your voice to bring these famous speeches to life on stage! Visit our Shakespeare Garden (open seven days a week), pick a selection from one of Shakespeare’s famous plays, take the stage, and speak the speech! Each selection includes the original text, a modern translation, and a character description.
ASF recently commissioned 22 Southern playwrights to each create original pieces on the theme of “home.” The playwrights collaborated with actors from around the country to bring these new works to life.
Your Favorite Actors, Their Favorite Shakespeare
Shakespeare’s most memorable monologues, performed by actors who have appeared on stage at ASF.
ASF’s Education department is offering a series of free virtual workshops. From Creative Movement to Crafting Characters through acting and monologue, there’s something fun for every student to immerse themselves in.
One of our favorite activities right now is coloring. The act of coloring can be therapeutic, and creating art is a soothing and stress-relieving activity. So grab your crayons and colored pencils and get ready for a relaxing coloring session at home.
Check out our virtual cocktail hour, Call Time, hosted by Artistic Director Rick Dildine.
With your support, we look forward to coming back stronger than ever.
Gifts of any amount are greatly appreciated.
